The notification bell used to stay quiet for a lot of things it really shouldn't have. We fixed that. From now on you'll get a notification when:

  • Someone replies to your forum thread. Start a discussion and you'll know when people jump in.
  • Someone @mentions you. Drop an @yourhandle in a thread or reply and that player gets pinged.
  • A host accepts or declines your request to join. Ask to join a game and you'll hear back either way — declines used to be completely silent, so you were left wondering. Not anymore.

A few things we were careful about:

  • You'll never get piled up with duplicate pings for the same post.
  • You won't be notified about your own actions, or about anyone you've blocked.
  • New direct messages still live on the Messages badge up top, not the bell — so the two don't step on each other.

Small change, but the bell finally means something. Enjoy the quieter kind of noise.
